Hello!
My name is John Moore, and I’m a flute and voice teacher in Santa Clarita, CA. I have been a flutist for most of my life, and music has taken me around the world from Los Angeles to Canada and Mondovì, Italy. I have nearly a decade of teaching experience and work as a freelancer in the Los Angeles area. I have performed as a soloist at charity events, with rock bands and orchestras, and have recorded for several independent projects, including Billboard #1 charting albums.
I graduated with a degree in music from George Mason University, where I served as the Teaching Assistant for the Woodwind Methods and Aural Skills programs. From there, I continued my education by participating in several international masterclasses and festivals. I have been a scholarship recipient at the Marina Piccinini International Masterclass, the James Galway Festival, and most recently the Complete 21st Century Flutist program in Mondovì, Italy.
I have performed in masterclasses for several renowned flute players, most notably Stefan Ragnar Höskuldsson of the Berlin Philharmonic, Silvia Careddu of the Orchestre National de France, and Carol Wincenc of the Juilliard School.
I have studied privately with acclaimed orchestral flute players, including Giorgio Consolati, Principal Flute of the York Symphony, and currently Catherine Ransom, Associate Principal Flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
I have performed as a soloist, with orchestras, and as a recording artist for classical and EDM projects. Notably, I recorded piccolo on the Symphonina Foundation’s album Advent of the Symphonina, which won the Gold Medal at the LIT Music Awards, the Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards, was nominated for Best Classical Album at the World Entertainment Awards, and reached #1 on the Billboard charts.
As a teacher, I pride myself on creating an engaging, challenging, and supportive environment where students receive extensive musical training, audition preparation, and foundational music theory and history knowledge to help them become well-rounded musicians.
My students have won positions in honor bands and orchestras across all grade levels, earned placements in local youth symphonies, taken on leadership and solo roles in their school music programs, performed for members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and are consistently praised for their high level of musicianship, positive attitudes, and strong work ethic.
I have also worked as a sectional coach at several middle and high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley and with the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra.
I am a Trevor James Flutes Alto Flute Artist, a registered member of the National Flute Association, a member of the Flute Center of New York’s Teacher Club, and a regular collaborator with the Los Angeles Flute Association.
